Musical History

So, haven't felt very inspired lately in terms of writing. However, long car rides always give me a jolt. So driving back from South Carolina I started wondering about what makes us - us. It's so strange to think about what your life would be like if you lived somewhere else, grew up somewhere else, or had a different family. So many factors go into what ultimately becomes our life. Basically, I have no complaints - great family, great friends, great husband, great life. How did I get so lucky? Who knows...

Lately, I seem to have had a lot of memory triggers. Most of them happen to be songs. I love that. I love that a single chorus, beat, or chord can transport you back to a moment in your past. One thing I always find fun is to define my life in terms of songs....here are a few that have popped into mind.

Sesame Street - Pidgeon by: Bert - dancing around my parent's dining room table in a leotard...haha!

Cover Girl by: New Kids on the Block - rollar skating (not blading) on my drive way with friends

Fantasy by: Mariah Carey - middle school drama as recounted by hours on the phone

One Week by: Bare Naked Ladies - high school summer romance

Ride Wit Me by: Nelly - fraternity parties and college friends

What songs are triggers for you?
